Telegram is where most crypto communities live, including Quack Swap's. It is fast and flexible, but like any open platform it attracts scammers. These eight practices keep your account and your funds safe.

1. Enable two-step verification

This adds a password on top of the SMS code when logging in from a new device. Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification and set a strong, unique password.

2. Be cautious with links and files

Public groups and channels are full of malicious links and files. Do not click links or download files from unknown senders; they can carry malware or lead to phishing sites. Verify the sender first.

3. Adjust privacy settings

Under Settings > Privacy and Security you can control who sees your phone number, profile photo, and last-seen status, and who can add you to groups. Set "Who Can Add Me to Groups" to "My Contacts" to stop spam-group invites.

4. Use Secret Chats for sensitive conversations

Secret Chats are end-to-end encrypted, device-specific, not stored in the cloud, and support self-destructing messages. Open a chat, tap the contact's name, and choose Start Secret Chat. They are not available for groups.

5. Verify contacts and admins

Scammers impersonate trusted contacts and create fake groups. Check the exact username before sharing anything. Quack Swap admins never DM you first. If someone claiming to be an admin messages you, it is a scam.

6. Avoid public Wi-Fi without a VPN

Public networks can expose your traffic to interception. If you must use one, connect through a reputable VPN with a no-logs policy.

7. Report and block

If you see spam, harassment, or impersonation, open the user's profile, choose More > Report, and block them.

8. Keep the app updated

Telegram ships security fixes regularly. Update through your device's app store.

Final thoughts

Two-step verification, tight privacy settings, and a healthy suspicion of unsolicited DMs cover most of the risk. Stay vigilant.
