How to Export Your Private Key from Phantom Wallet
A two-minute guide to exporting a Phantom wallet private key on browser and mobile, plus the security rules to follow before you do.

Phantom Wallet is a non-custodial wallet for Solana, Ethereum, and more. Exporting your private key lets you back up or migrate accounts, but it is sensitive: your key controls your funds.
Warning: never share your private key or recovery phrase. Do this on a secure device, ideally offline, and consider a hardware wallet for safety.
Why export?
Your private key proves ownership of your wallet address. Exporting helps import into other wallets (for example MetaMask) or create backups. Solana has unique keys per account; Ethereum, Base, and other EVM chains share one.
Prerequisites
- Phantom Wallet (browser extension or iOS/Android app) installed.
- Wallet password or biometrics.
- Secure storage (an encrypted note or paper; avoid cloud storage and screenshots).
- The desired network enabled in Settings > Active Networks.
Browser extension steps
- Open Phantom and unlock with your password.
- Click the profile avatar, then "Manage Accounts".
- Select the account, click "Show Private Key", and enter your password.
- Choose the network (Solana, Ethereum, and so on). Enable it in Settings if it is missing.
- Copy the key, store it securely offline, then click "I Understand" and "Done".
Mobile app steps
- Open the app and unlock with biometrics or password.
- Tap the avatar, then the account name, then the pencil icon.
- Select "Show Private Key" and enter your password.
- Pick the network, copy the key, store it safely, and tap "Done".
Security tips
- Export rarely. Use your Secret Recovery Phrase for full backups instead.
- Stay safe. Use a trusted device and avoid suspicious sites or bots.
- Ledger users: keys stay on the hardware wallet and are not exportable.
